I have over 15 years of experience of working as a complementary therapist in my own practice and within the NHS. This has provided me with a breadth of knowledge and experience of providing effective treatments for a variety of conditions including stress, worry and anxiety, PMS, hormonal imbalance, IBS, low immunity, weight loss, fertility, plus many other conditions.


My approach involves utilising my depth of knowledge of complementary therapies in order to develop a treatment plan that is tailor made to your individual needs to improve your physical, psychological and emotional well-being.



Acupuncture is an incredibly effective system of complementary medicine. According to traditional Chinese philosophy, our health is dependent on the body’s ability to move energy (Qi) through channels beneath the skin in a smooth and balanced way. Energy flows through the body in a continual smooth fluctuating motion like waves.  When the energy flow is altered it is like a drain being blocked.  When Qi levels are altered either in excess or there is a blockage this can result in the potential for pain or illness.  Acupuncture can be used on relevant specific points to free the flow of Qi and improve the wellbeing of the patient.


The treatment involves gently inserting fine Acupuncture needles into the appropriate spots on the body in order to resolve any imbalance, allowing the free flowing of energy and health to resume. Many people find this therapy offers an effective solution for a broad range of health conditions such headaches, digestive discomfort, insomnia, joint pain, PMS or natural fertility, while some people choose to have treatment as a preventative measure to help maintain good health or simply to improve their overall sense of wellbeing.



Clinical Hypnotherapy enables you to create fast, effective and positive changes in your life and allows you to let go of unwanted patterns or behaviours such as smoking or overeating in a totally safe and natural way. Hypnotherapy helps you to feel empowered and able to live the life you want and be the person that you want to be.


The experience of Hypnotherapy is an extremely pleasant feeling of relaxation and a heightened state of inner awareness, like guided daydreaming. A little like being half awake and half asleep, you can hear and understand what is being said, and are aware of what is happening around you. While in this calm, peaceful state you will be gently guided to focus your attention on positive visualisations and become able to access your inner resources, strength and wisdom which enables you to create new behaviours and ways of thinking and find new, creative solutions to your problems. Hypnotherapy allows you to change your limiting beliefs and enables you to become open to a whole new world of possibilities. Reflexology encourages the body's own healing mechanisms through first massaging the feet which relaxes the body, calms the mind, and gently soothes the emotions and then applying gentle pressure to specific points and areas on the feet. These areas and reflex points correspond to different body organs and systems, and pressing them has a beneficial effect on organs and overall  health. For example, a specific spot in the arch of the foot corresponds to the kidney point. Through applying pressure with thumb or finger to this area, it has a healing effect on kidney functioning through dispersing energy blockages.The energy released creates a wonderful feeling of inner peace as tension is dissolved. Although reflexology is not used to diagnose or cure ailments many people use it to complement other treatments when addressing conditions like stress, asthma, headaches, kidney function, PMS and sinusitis. Reflexology is also extremely effective for boosting your immune system and improving your overall sense of well-being



Reiki is a simple, natural and safe technique that promotes healing and restores balance to the body. Reiki is a Japanese form of healing which involves transferring energy from the practitioner to the patient in order to enhance the body's natural ability to heal itself through the balancing of energy. This energy is channelled through gently placing hands over specific areas of your body in order to provide healing.  Reiki has been found to be effective in helping many symptoms of imbalance and resulting in positive changes such as improved sleep and mood, reducing tension and easing pain and is a deeply relaxing and enjoyable experience.


Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

EFT is a very powerful yet gentle method of balancing the body's energy system. It rebalances our energy channels so that emotional harmony may be restored. EFT can be used to treat both physical and emotional imbalance through simply tapping with the fingertips on specific acupressure points on the head, chest and hands whilst attention is positively focused on a specific area that you hope to change such as improving self esteem and increasing self confidence, overcoming exam nerves or reducing pain. EFT provides rapid results and creates powerful lasting change.


Relaxation Therapy

Relaxation therapy techniques are an extremely effective and natural way of improving health, coping with stress, relieving anxiety and boosting your immune system or simply learning to easily manage the general strains of a fast paced life. The aim of relaxation therapy is to settle the busy mind and allow thoughts to flow smoothly, creating a feeling of ease and calm. This mental quiet allows for rest and rejuvenation while releasing all physical tension and feeling deeply relaxed. Relaxation Techniques incorporate breathing,  sound or visual images to help you focus on physical sensations, thoughts or enhancing specific positive emotional states in a peaceful environment while listening to soft music playing, bringing body, mind and spirit into harmony.


My experience of working with  a range of therapies allows me to integrate all of my skills in order to provide an effective blend of complementary treatments that are tailor made for you as a unique individual. I may, for example, combine an acupuncture treatment with hypnotherapy or combine a reiki treatment with relaxation techniques. This ensures that the best results are obtained in the fewest sessions possible. Enabling you to feel great, reach your full potential and allowing you to live the life you really want to live.

Face to face Physiotherapy consultations has been risk assessed. Jill Kerr Physiotherapy is following Government, NHS and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy guidelines.
